How do you keep stainless steel from rusting?
To prevent rust, spray the steel with WD-40 and buff it with a clean towel, then wash it with soapy water. Always dry your stainless steel items immediately after cleaning them instead of leaving them to air dry, since the moisture can stain your metal.
Is CRS stainless steel?
The difference between CRS and 304 stainless steel is that CRS is a process and 304 is an alloy. Steel, hot or cold rolled, will rust and corrode. It is used in applications where that is not a consideration. Stainless steel is an alloy with chromium and nickel that prevents rust and corrosion.
Does a magnet stick to stainless steel?
Some steels are only weakly magnetic, and some are not magnetic at all. Austenitic stainless steels like 304 or 316 stainless are good examples of this. A ferritic stainless like 430 stainless steel, on the other hand, is ferromagnetic. Magnets stick to it.
